At the time Pal Joey was filmed (ca 1956/57), Kim Novak was on her way up as Columbia’s “new” Love Goddess, so people wondered whether there would be any hostility between her and Rita on the set. There weren’t, however, any bad feelings from either side, and Kim Novak later said: “She [Rita] was always charming and gracious.”
